Printing - General
STDC relies on the features of Microsoft's Internet Explorer to handle printing. In the Reports section we learned how to build reports by selecting the Year, Month, Test and clicking the Build Reports button. In the latest version of STDC I have changed the background colors of the report tables to make them printer friendly. This allowed me to remove the printer friendly button from the reports page. The report tables are not as pretty, ok that's a matter of opinion, but they are functional and printable.

There are some considerations for internet explorer that you must be aware of in order to get the alternate row shading to work. This is not STDC that causes the problem but is an ALDOT default instalation requirement for Windows Internet Explorer. Here's what you must check.

1) From Explorer s
elect Tools>Internet Options.

2) Click on the Advanced Tab of the Internet Options dialog.

3) Scroll down 2/3 of the way until you find the "Printing" category. Check the box next to "Print background colors and images." (If it is already checked then leave it alone).

4) Click "Apply" and then "Ok".

Now when you Print or use Print Preview the alternating rows will have a light gray background.

Printing - Yearly Report

Yearly Reports have been reconfigured to display based on a control selection of Year and Month. This means you must print 10 reports (January through October) to complete the printing of 1 year's worth of reports.

This is the report that replaces the old 3300+ page report. Building and Printing the 10 reports that make up a "Yearly Report" will create a smaller 110 page report with Summaries and Lab Data for each month. Again, use Internet Explorer's Printing tools to print each month's report.

When you log in you will be presented with 3 controls - a year pull down and a Build Report button. All you have to do is 1) select the year and month you want, then 2) click the button, and then 3) print the web page.

Remember, you can also use Print Preview to review, and choose specific pages from the report. And you can choose any Windows network printer. The default is the printer you normally print to.

Even though you are only processing one month at a time the report will still take several seconds to display due to the massive amount of data processing that it is managing. Be patient since it could take as much as a minute to display the result.
